Notes on using Sums??–Simple!!
To parents:
This book aims to help your child(ren) understand and overcome any confusion or difficulties they might have with basic arithmetic, either working on their own or with your help.
While it can be used as an arithmetic course and worked through from start to finish, it has been written mainly to help answer those “What is..?” and “How do I..?” type questions (as in: “What is a percentage?” or, “How do I do long division?).
The detailed Contents section allows the book to be “dipped into” as and when required. The book contains worked examples throughout, as well as regular revision checks and a corresponding answers section and is intended to complement and consolidate work that is being done in school.
To teachers:
This book is not intended for general classroom use, but rather is a learning resource that aims to complement classroom work in basic arithmetic. It is envisaged that it may be most helpful to those pupils / students who are competent readers and who would wish to consolidate or extend their work in this area. As such, Sums?? – Simple!! may usefully be placed in class or school / college libraries.
To pupils / students:
This book aims to help your independent study of basic arithmetic and also to complement the work you are already doing in school / college. As noted above, while this book can be used as an arithmetic course and worked through from start to finish, it has been written mainly to help answer those “What is..?” and “How do I..?” type questions (as in: “What is a percentage?” or, “How do I do long division?). The detailed contents section allows the book to be “dipped into” as and when required. However the book is used, I hope that you will find that, with patience and perseverance, “Sums (can be) Simple!”
Best wishes
